grammar

A sentence is a group of words arranged in an order and which makes a complete sense

Elements of a sentence.

  • subject
  • verb
  • complement.
  • object
  • adjunct
  1. Subject. denoting the person or thing about which something is said.
  2. verb. Transitive has an object (.ask a question what.)
  3. verb. Intransitive has no object.
  4. object. Direct object. answers question What
  5. object. Indirect. answers the question to whom
  6. complement. completes the predicate of a sentence and an essential part.
  7. complement. subject describes the subject.
  8. complement. object.describes the object.

  • SVOA. They grow rice in the fields.

  • SVOC. We call him the captain. captain complement.
